Gender Studies has over the last 20 years raised a palpable feminist consciousness and allowed us to develop a nuanced perspective on gender. In a way, the major objective of the program to produce graduates with perspectives on both gender and feminism – ie. the ability to put women at the center of questions about social structures, and the ability to analyze the relationships between men and women is continuously being achieved.

M.A. Gender Studies

Masters in Gender Studies was established in July 2009 upscaling the Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s Studies that was running as a one-year degree program since September 1996.

Ph.D GENDER STUDIES

It focuses on complex interplay of gender with other social, political, cultural, and economic identity markers to answer important questions that exist in politics, society, and economics.

Vision

It is envisioned that after the completion of this course the graduates engage in establishment of humane and gender just society through their academic, professional and personal endeavors.

Goal

The goal of this program is to create a cadre of Gender Experts and professionals dedicated to gender equality and human rights.

Mission

The mission of this Master’s program is to equip graduates with conceptual and theoretical knowledge by imparting academic qualifications and analytical skills on gender and development with rights-based approach.
