Vision: To work for the Marginalized and Vulnerable groups especially women and Children through social and economic equality and empowerment.
Education Qualification:
• Higher Secondary from West Bengal University Calcutta. India.
• B.Sc. in Home Science Udaipur University India .
• Post Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Development from MS University Of Baroda.
• M.Sc. in Home Science with Specialization in Child Development and Gender Socialization from MS University Baroda ,Gujarat India.
• PhD from Lady Irwin College, University of New Delhi, India. The topic for PhD is “Child Bearing and Child Rearing Practices in two Ethnic groups in Kathmandu valley” 1990.
Work Experience:
• Presently Retired from TU Home science Department after working for 34 years in various position and as Professor since 1996 in TU and finally served as Chairperson of Central Department of Home Science and women Development in Padma Kanya College..
• Worked as Research Director in University Grants Commission ( UGC) Sano Thimi ,Bhakatpur, from 2010 till 2015. This was an academic and administrative job for awarding grants for infrastructure and Research promotion to Academic Institutions and research students of MA, MPhil and PhD on competitive basis. This also includes orientations and trainings for proposal writings, research presentations and selections for professional Publications in various academic institutions and Universities all over Nepal.
• Member of Research council in University Grants Commission (UGC) till now.
• Experience of Teaching Child Development and Women Studies and Gender Socialization to Home Science students for about 3 decades in Padma Kanya Campus Tribhuvan University.
• Involved in many Research projects under DEPLHE (Development partners in Higher Education) mainly on issues Of Children, Women Violence , Disaster management and Gender and Development in CERID, PLAN International and Care Nepal.
• National Consultant for Early Childhood Development since 2007.
• Presently Teaching occasionally in Women Studies and Gender Studies Programs to MA and PhD classes .
• Conducting Training to PG Diploma classes in Human Growth and Development in Social work and Counseling Institution Budha Nagar Kathmandu.
• Worked as a Trainer and Consultant in many Child welfare Organizations such as Save The Children, UNICEF and PLAN International since 1980s.
Participation in long term Trainings:
• Early Childhood Development training in Post Graduate Diploma, Baroda, 1970 India.
• Gender and Sustainable Development. Organized by TU sponsored by USAID. 1989.
• Gender and Sustainable Development in Bangla Desh. FAO. 1990
• Gender and Reproductive Health from Melbourne, Australia. UNIFEM. 1997.
Research Experiences in Collaboration
Worked in various research projects related to children, Reproductive Health; Early Childhood Education, and Gender Analysis in Education Health and Educational situation of Girl child . This was mainly under the organizations like CERID ,UNICEF, Save The children , CARE and PLAN Nepal. John Moore University UK, Gender studies Bangla Desh.
Supervised several Master and 4 Ph.D. students from Home Science and Women Studies for Research dissertation since 1980. Presently engaged in teaching PhD students of Gender Studies in Orchid College Chahbill.
